If you're a beginner knitter looking to step beyond scarves, or you just want to keep your "winter hobby" going strong, this workshop is for you!

You might be intimidated by the thought of making clothing....don't be! For this workshop, we'll be making a totally non-fussy, sleeveless tank/ vest with soft cotton yarn. Only basic skills are needed. If you've taken our Knitting 101 workshop or have equivalent experience, you've got this!

In this three-part workshop, we'll work to make your new favorite warm weather top. You will learn:

Yarn & needle information
How to knit the stockinette stitch
How to knit stripes
How to create a sweater body, arm holes and neckline
How to assemble all components
All the skills needed to construct a basic top from start to finish

This is three-part workshop taking place on the following Tuesday evenings:

7/16 at 6:30pm-9:30pm

7/23 at 6:00pm-7:00pm (Optional check-in session for troubleshooting)

7/30 at 6:30pm-9:30pm

**There will be knitting homework between sessions**

Materials:

Materials needed for class are available to be purchased at our shop in person or online as a local pick up order at a 10% student discount. Please note, within 24 hrs of registering for the workshop, you will receive the discount code for the materials needed. For the Summer Striped Top you will need:

3-5 balls of Shiny Happy Cotton depending on your size-- see the size chart in this Class Posting to determine quantity needed. (1 ball for the stripe, the remaining balls for the main color)
Size US 10.5 24" Circular Needle
1 Tapestry Needle

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: You must have basic knitting skills to attend this workshop, including: casting on and the knit stitch. If you are a total newbie, attend one of our Knitting 101 workshops first- register here.

Class Details

Date: Select start date above (this is a three-part workshop; students must be available for the first and third sessions, the second session is optional-- see above for details)
Location: Brooklyn Craft Company, 165 Greenpoint Avenue (here’s where we’re located)
Cost: $125 includes seven hours of instruction, materials are not included. A 10% discount will be honored for all students the day of class.

Meet Your Instructor

Amelia is a maker, designer, and instructor with over 20 years experience. She works in the fashion industry as a knitwear designer and is the Creative Director and Founder of Studio Faden, a fiber art instruction company.
